Council Bluffs, IA (April 7, 2014) — For the seventh consecutive year Horseshoe Council Bluffs plays host to the World Series of Poker Circuit beginning April 10th and running through the 21st. The property, located just a few miles over the river from Omaha, NE, is historically ripe with much-needed National Championship points and primed to yield two seats to the season-ending event.
As with other Circuit stops, the Main Event champion as well as the top points earner -- the Casino Champion -- earn seats to the $1,000,000 freeroll set to take place May 22-24 at Bally's Atlantic City. With manageable field sizes, easy access to/from Eppley Airfield in Omaha and multiple affordable lodging options, Council Bluffs truly is one of the most desirable stops on the Circuit tour and one of the best venues to earn points toward National Championship.
Day 1 kicks off on a Thursday with a $365 no-limit hold’em tournament while opening weekend is highlighted by the Circuit’s signature re-entry event. Last year, Iowa resident Zachary Smith outlasted Circuit standouts Jessie Bryant and Katherine Bowen at the final table as well as more than 560 other entries to earn his first ring and $39,357 in the property’s re-entry opener.Events on this year’s schedule include a $365 six-handed tournament, a $580 no-limit hold’em tournament, a $365 limit Omaha eight or better tournament and the $1,675 Main Event. The Main Event features two starting flights beginning Saturday, April 19 at 12 and 5 p.m. As with other Circuit stops, players eliminated from Flight A are permitted to re-entry in Flight B. Day 2 of the championship begins at 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday.Last year’s finale drew an intimate field of 367 and was headlined by the brothers Hinkle. The younger of the Hinkles, Blair, got the best of his older sibling Grant who finished 11th. Blair, meanwhile, bested the 360-entry field to complement his gold bracelet with a second Council Bluffs Circuit title and $121,177.2013/2014 Council Bluffs ring events schedule:- Event 1: $365 No-Limit Hold’em - Thursday, April 10, 12 p.m.
