The early weeks of World Series of Poker (WSOP) coverage on ESPN is about seeing familiar faces make their run in the biggest poker tournament of the year. Now that coverage is underway on Day 6 of the Main Event, the focus is less on the known pros and more on the new stars of the poker world. We are used to seeing the new guys coming on the WSOP strong, but this year it is about getting to know a couple of new gals on the block, who will be spending quite a bit of time in the spotlight from 8pm-10pm ET tonight on ESPN
Gaelle Baumann of France was on the Main Event radar as early as Day 2 when she built up a monster stack to take the chip lead early in the action. Elisabeth Hille of Norway made her ascent up the chip counts a little later, but the two women do share this in common--they are two of the big stacks in the room as the field dips under the 100 player mark and the Day 6 action begins.
If that isn't enough girl power for you, tonight's coverage will begin with Vanessa Selbst at the feature table putting her aggressive brand of poker on display. Hille will take her turn at the feature table later in the coverage along with Jason Somerville and Sam Holden, who is still vying to claim his seat at the final table for the second year in a row.
As these players aim to claim their seats at the 2012 WSOP Main Event final table, you once again have a chance to claim your seat in the 2013 WSOP Main Event thanks to the WSOP Watch and Win contest. Just keep an ear out for the code word during tonight's coverage, log onto WSOP.com's free play poker site, and enter the code for this week's chance to win. Complete rules and details on the Watch and Win promotion are available on WSOP.com.
Day 6 is here. The big names are dwindling, the new names are rising, and we get that much closer to the biggest final table poker has to offer. Will these ladies follow in Barbara Enright's footsteps? Or will some male up and comer oust them en route to the October Nine. Tune in tonight to find out.
