WSOP UNVEILS WEEKLY WATCH & WIN SWEEPSTAKES TO CELEBRATE 10th YEAR ON ESPN

FROM YOUR COUCH TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP; WSOP TELEVISION VIEWERS GET DEALT IN

LAS VEGAS – August 14, 2012 – Have you ever watched poker programming on television and thought, ‘If I was there, I’d be holding all the chips!’?

Well now is really your chance.

Starting with tonight’s telecast of the World Series of Poker Main Event (ESPN: 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT), viewers can tune in, be given a unique code, and then enter a sweepstakes on WSOP.com to win a trip to Las Vegas, including entry ($12,500 value) into the 2013 WSOP Main Event. (Participants must be age 21 or older and meet other eligibility requirements to participate in this promotion).

In all, 11 WSOP Main Event seats will be awarded, representing 11 consecutive weeks of original programming on ESPN (August 14-October 23), prior to every-hand coverage of the Main Event Final Table on Oct 29 & 30.

In the first hour of each two-hour telecast, viewers will see a promotional spot providing an overview of the sweepstakes with a mention to keep watching for the night’s unique code.  Later on during the telecast, viewers will be given the special code.  Logging on to www.WSOP.com, downloading the WSOP’s free-to-play poker software, registering for your account and entering your poker username, email address and special code upon launching the game provides each person one entry into the Sweepstakes.  The sweepstakes entry period ends at 11:59 pm ET each original episode night, just in time for viewers to log on in a narrow window after each show ends.

“This officially becomes the first way to qualify for the 2013 WSOP Main Event,” quipped WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.  “For ten consecutive years, WSOP telecasts have showcased that in Vegas everyone can play and anyone can win.  This is our way of thanking loyal viewers and giving them a chance to go from their couch to the championship in 2013.”

Also formalized, are plans for ESPN to again air every hand of the WSOP Main Event Final Table, October 29th and 30th.  This year, all action will begin in prime-time, as coverage airs on ESPN2 Monday, October 29 at 8 pm ET.  Play will be suspended at some point that evening (with 3 or 4 players remaining) and resume on ESPN at 8 pm ET on Tuesday, October 30th to determine the 2012 World Champion.  The complete remaining ESPN World Series of Poker television schedule is as follows:
