Former football player, Nate Bandy, cruises through a field of 127 players to claim his first WSOP gold ring.
Biloxi, Mississippi (September 13, 2016) – Nate Bandy won his first career gold ring in Event #4: $365 No-Limit Hold'em Monday night by defeating a 127 player field. The tournament was scheduled as a two-day event, however Bandy only needed one day to claim his victory.
Being a former football player means Bandy is no stranger to competition. He played college ball at the University of Chattanooga Tennessee then professionally with the Scottish Claymores, an NFL Europe team. When asked if his competitive football background is a factor in his newfound poker career, Bandy offered some insight.
“One thousand percent; this, and golf, that’s all I can perform anymore so this is what I do,” Said Bandy. Familiar with the fortitude it takes to complete a grueling season, he understands the reality of tournament play. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint, especially in poker.”
Bandy is relatively new to live, tournament poker. Normally a cash game player, he only began playing live tournaments about eight months ago. He just started playing poker full-time after stepping away from his career at the D1 Sports facility in Chattanooga.
D1 Sports is a nationwide, athletic training company that boats a top-class group of professional athlete affiliations, such as Carmelo Anthony, Chipper Jones, and Peyton Manning. Both living in Chattanooga and associated with D1 Sports, Bandy and Manning have close ties. Maybe Bandy’s triumphant WSOP Circuit victory will inspire Peyton to take up a poker career in his retirement.
IP Biloxi is the fourth Circuit stop Bandy has participated in and he certainly made it a memorable one. On top of a gold ring and $10,668, Bandy was awarded 50 Casino Championship points. When asked if he will stay in Biloxi and make a run at being crowned the IP Casino Champion Bandy confidently responded with “Absolutely.” In fact, Bandy plans on continuing to follow the 2016/17 WSOP Circuit tour in hopes of qualifying for the Global Casino Championship.

players in the $365 No-Limit Hold'em event to pocket $10,668 and
earn his first career WSOP Circuit gold ring. He also earns 50 Casino
Championship points for his victory.

Play is moving quickly and eliminations have been a common occurrence. Robert Coleman, who ended up eighth in Event #4 last night, improved his finish this go around. However, he still fell short of the gold ring, exiting in third place.Monday, September 12, 2016 10:23 PM Local Time
The final table has been set for Event #5. After bringing in a field of 127, the tournament is down to its final nine. A little less than half of Level 17 remains and the average chip stack consists of 34 big blinds. There are two familiar faces at the final table. Robert Coleman and James Beetz both made the final table in their respective events last night. Chris Edwards currently holds the chip lead.

Registration for the fifth event of the IP series has come to a
close and the prizepool has been announced. The tournament
attracted 127 entries to generate a $38,100 prizepool. Of the five
events thus far, this is the second largest. The eventual champion will
earn $10,668, a WSOP Circuit gold ring and 50 Casino Championship points.
The top 15 finishers will walk away with a cash-prize.

Day five here at the IP Biloxi Circuit will debut the fifth
gold ring event at this 12-event series. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. is
Event #5: $365 No-Limit Hold'em. This regularly formatted tournament will last for two days, resuming play for Day 2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Here is a quick rundown of Event #5:
- Buy-in: $365
- Players start with 10,000 tournament chips
- Blinds start at 25/50
- Registration remains open until the start of Level 9
- There is a 45 minute dinner break after Level 12
- Levels 1-12 are 30 minutes long, Levels 13-21 are 40 minutes long, and all Levels after that will be 50 minutes long
- Day 2 begins on September 13th at 2:00 p.m.
- Global Casino Championship points are awarded to all players earning a cash
- The winner will receive a WSOP Circuit gold ring
- Re-entry is not allowed
