Stateline, Nev. (November 4, 2015) -- The 2015 Tahoe series thus far has been mostly dominated by WSOP veterans. Three of the first five events before this one were won by previous gold ring winners and one of two that wasn't won by a gold ring winner, was won by Shawn Van Asdale, who has a whole pile of WSOP cashes.

That trend changed today when WSOP rookie, Pete Uhl, won Event #6 - $365 No-Limit Hold'em for his first WSOP Circuit gold ring and $14,899. Uhl won in style too, knocking out his heads up opponent, Jonathan Libiran, with pocket aces.

This was the first WSOP gold ring event Uhl has ever played in. Uhl is not new to poker though, just the WSOP. According to Uhl, he has played quite a bit of poker in Europe, mainly in the Czech Republic. As with a lot of players, Uhl lost some interest in the game and some money when online poker was shut down and has since played less poker.

Uhl came into Day 2 with a lot of confidence that he was going to take down the tournament. He entered Day 2 second in chips out of the eight remaining players.

"I had a really good feeling about the other players at the table. I feel like I had a really good read on everyone," said Uhl.

Uhl is a local of the Tahoe area. He lives and works in South Lake Tahoe, Cali. He is an art consultant for the Marcus Ashely Gallery, which is just down the street from Harveys Lake Tahoe.

"Poker and art are my two passions if life," said Uhl.

Uhl is now playing in his second career WSOP gold ring event. He won Event #6 just in time to be able to late register for Event #7 - $365 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack, and he is now playing in that.

The final table of Event #6 included only one previous gold ring winner in Bill Watchman, Watchman finished in 8th place for his second cash and second final table of the series.

Event #6 was the sixth of 12 gold ring events on the WSOP Circuit schedule at Harveys Lake Tahoe. The $365 No-Limit Hold’em tournament attracted 191 players generating a $57,300 prize pool. The top 21 players were paid.

Day 1 began Tuesday at 11 a.m. and lasted 21 levels. Day 2 began Wednesday at 1 p.m. with eight players remaining. The tournament concluded at about 3:30 p.m.near the end of Level 24.

Pete Uhl (pictuerd) now has a commanding lead over his final two opponents. Uhl has both of his opponents out chipped by about 4:1 as he looks to take down his first gold ring.

Day 2 of Event #6 - $365 No-Limit Hold'em begins at 1 p.m. today. The final eight players have secured a minimum payday of $1,681. The eventual champion will walk away with $14,899, a WSOP Circuit gold ring and 50 Casino Championship points.

Bill Watchman, Jeremy Priest and Nate Hays all have the opportunity to take the lead in the Casino Championship with a win today. The end of Level 21 has been reached and it is time for the players to bag for the. So far the final table has been slow going. Only one player was eliminated since the final table began an hour and a half ago. Day 2 was originally scheduled to begin tomorrow at 2 p.m. but has been moved up to 1 p.m. Play will continue tomorrow until a winner is reached.
