Nick Yunis Leads Little One For One Drop Day 1A Field
The first of two starting days for The Little One for One Drop is officially in the books! Leading the way is Nick Yunis who bagged a massive stack of 173,200. Yunis was cruising all day and eventually straightened out an opponent in a huge hand that resulted in Yunis doubling to over 180,000. Yunis is no stranger to success here at the WSOP as he finished 126th in the Main Event last year for over $55,000 and has already notched three cashes into his belt this summer.
Day 1A saw a flurry of well know pros take their shot in this massive field but many of them fell short of the bag at the end of the night. Among those to bust are Chris Bjorin, Sorel Mizzi, Ben Yu, Shannon Shorr, Phil Hellmuth and Melanie Weisner. Along with the poker pros we also saw an NBA star take his shot in this event as Earl Barron battled all day, but was eliminated with just one level remaining in the day.
Despite the bust outs there were also a plethora of professionals that did indeed bag. Behind Yunis players such as Craig McCorkell (145,000), Taylor Paur (100,800), Niall Farrell (78,300), Konstantin Puchkov (57,100), Dan Heimmiler (49,800), Allen Cunningham (39,200), Stephen Chidwick (16,200) and Allen Kessler (14,000) all advanced to day 2.
Play will resume tomorrow at 2 PM local time and players will be playing another 10 action packed levels of No Limit Hold'em. Stay tuned to WSOP.com for live coverage all day long!
