Arman Sogomonyan Knows He's Beat, Calls Anyways
One of the crazier hands of the tournament just unfolded late here in level 17.
A player opens under the gun to 10,000 and Haley Pappalardo calls from the button. Arman Sogomonyan is in the small blind and calls. The big blind also comes along for the ride.
The dealer spreads out the on the flop and action checks around to Pappalardo who bets 25,000. Sogomonyan raises to 95,000 and the players in the big blind and under the gun fold.
Pappalardo drops a stack of chips into the middle to signal a call. She proceeds to turn her hand over and reveals , not knowing she actually still has 16,000 behind after calling the raise. Sogomonyan also flips over his hand and shows the table .
The dealer flips over the on the turn. Sogomonyan bets 16,000, enough to put Pappalardo all-in, even though he is drawing to to give him the straight flush.
Pappalardo is in great position to score a huge double up.
Sure enough, the dealer spikes the on the river to complete the nuts for Sogomonyan. Everyone in the room has their eyes on the table as players stand up screaming and running around after seeing this massive cooler.
Sogomonyan reaches into his pocket and gives the dealer a $100 bill and insists that he keep it after saving his tournament.
