One for the Thumb! Chris Conrad Wins Fifth WSOP Circuit Ring
Event #7 Winner Chris Conrad
In what turned into a wildly swingy final table, Chris Conrad went from second in chips to extreme short stack to champion within the span of the three-and-a-half hours it took to get from six to one.
His survival of that roller coaster elevated him into truly elite WSOP Circuit company, claiming his fifth ring, three of which now have come in Pot-Limit Omaha, with two of them within a month of each other.
His explanation of his recent four-card success? He can’t even explain it.
“PLO seems to be my specialty lately. I don’t know, I’ve studied the two-card game, and maybe I…yah, I don’t know.”
The win was extra sweet for Conrad with not just his wife Katerina Lukina on the rail, but friends Lexy Gavin-Mather, Bob Mather, and Dan Lowery, who unfortunately all busted the Monster Stack event but lent an extra boost to Conrad’s run to the ring.
“I wish they were still in the Monster Stack, but I didn’t do too well until I had a support system, and that support system helped propel me to a W.”
They’ll all likely be back in the Monster Stack for Day 1B Wednesday with the now five-time ring winner in there as well, but for now, they’re enjoying a well-earned celebration as Conrad takes home $10,655, the ring, and another seat in the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions.
