Muzzatti Plays For More Than Just The Ring

Participating in a World Series of Poker Circuit event is something many poker players look forward to. The Main Event in particular always draws a big crowd and therefor generates a hefty prize pool. The money players win in an event like this can be live altering and the winner, who receives a gold WSOP circuit ring, will have his name etched in poker history forever.

For some players though this is not the number one reason to want to compete in an event like this in Lac Leamy. Rob Muzzatti from Toronto, Ontario has his eye on the prize with a much bigger goal in mind.

“I’m donating at least 5% percentage of my winnings to a cancer charity,” Muzzatti said, as we spoke to him briefly after he took down a pot.

“My best friend John is currently undergoing chemo in the Princes Margeret hospital in Toronto,” Muzzatti added.

Muzzatti has been playing semi-professionally for quite some time now and he had his biggest result at the 2012 WSOP finishing 5th in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Six Handed event for $81,202. Matt Matros who beat Mark Radoja heads up ultimately won that event.

Muzzatti also told us that his friend is following the live updates from home and we want to wish him all the best in his recovery. For now Muzzatti’s quest to raise money for cancer treatment is going well as he’s up to 32,000 after just taking down a pot.

The player in the under-the-gun position put in a call for 150 and Sam Chartier made the call as well. From the hijack the current leader in the Casino Championship leader board, Adam Podstawka, put in a raise to 600 and the player on his left made the call. Muzzatti put in the call as well and so did the other two players.

On the     flop Muzzatti bet 1,100 and the player in the cutoff was the only one making the call. The turn brings out the   and Muzzatti bet another 1,100. Once again his opponent put in the call bringing us to the river. The river shows the   and this time Muzzatti bet 2,500. Muzzatti’s opponent opts to fold his cards and the friendly Canadian shows    proving that he was not messing around.
