Have a Day, Carlos Loving!
Tampa pro makes two final tables in one day, wins second ring at the Palm Beach Kennel Club
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 13, 2017) — Carlos Loving’s Monday began with him eying up the title in Event #3 as one of the final 12 players to return for Day 2. It ended with him winning an entirely different event. In his second tournament of the day, the pro from Tampa outlasted a field of 198 entries in Event #5, claiming the top prize of more than $15,000 and his second gold ring.
It wasn’t even a particularly long day for Loving, who returned for the Event #3 restart at the friendly hour of 3 p.m. The pace of that $580 event was torrid from beginning to end, and Loving found himself heads-up with Martin Ryan within just a few hours.
Ryan is riding the heater of a lifetime right now, and he simply would not be denied the victory. Loving was forced to settle for a runner-up finish, while Ryan posed for photos with his record-setting fourth ring of the Circuit season.
That match ended around 7 p.m., just a few minutes before the close of registration in Event #5. Both Loving and Ryan jumped into the field for the one-day $365 Turbo, and both continued to put in good work throughout the evening. Ryan ultimately fizzled out just shy of the money in 24th place, but Loving was soon sitting at his second final table of the day. He didn’t have to settle for second place this time.
The heads-up match pitted Loving against Austin Reilly, a National Championship qualifier who won a ring earlier this season at Harrah's Cherokee. Loving was playing for his second ring, too, after winning his first at the Palm Beach Kennel Club just this past November.
The champ made quick work of Reilly in this match to collect another $15,442 -- about $100 more than his earlier result in Event #3. This one was far sweeter, though, giving him a ring for the second consecutive series at this venue. His total earnings for the day topped $30,000 across both final tables.
