David "Bama" Walters Nearly Misses Final Table
The knockouts were swift when play resumed after the dinner break. Quickly jumping to 12 players remaining, the tournament then saw a memorable bust out. The unfortunate recipient of the fateful hand was David "Bama" Walters.
Walters' pocket tens were sitting pretty when they hit middle set on the flop. A five on the turn paired the board and improved Walters' hand to a full house.
His opponent, Richard Yelland, held pocket kings and a king on the river gave Yelland the higher full house. Walters walks away in 12th place, earning $2,545 and 10 Casino Championship points.
Richard Yelland - 610,000
David "Bama" Walters - Eliminated
It seems the multi-flight NLHE Re-entry event is a positive one for Walters because back in mid-September he won his first career gold ring in the same-structured event at the IP Biloxi series.
Unofficial final table chip counts and seating arrangement will be posted shortly after the 11th place finisher is determined.
