No-Limit Hold'em Turbo

Retired truck driver, Dallas Berry comes out on top in the second turbo of the series. The humble Texan takes home a ring and an treasured experience.

Biloxi, Mississippi (September 11, 2016) – Dallas Berry won his first career gold ring in Event #3: $365 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo by outlasting a 95 player field. The tournament was scheduled as a one-day event with fast-paced, 20 minute levels.

After about nine hours of relatively speedy play, Berry took down the final had with his pocket kings, defeating a heartbroken Jared Ambler. This final outcome left Berry in an overjoyed mood.

“I’m so happy, I’d have to stand on my hands to keep from clapping,” said Berry. “I can’t say nothing other than I’m happier than heck.”

On the other side of things, Ambler was noticeable troubled. Prize money was not the object of his disappointment. It solely stemmed from so narrowly missing the chance to capture a WSOP gold ring, a priceless memento when all is said and done. This finish marked, not only Berry’s first Circuit ring, but also his first ever WSOP cash.

Berry is a retired truck driver. He started playing poker 10 years ago when circumstances left him unable to man his rig for four months. Immobile, Berry was cooped up with a laptop by his side and decided to take up online poker. From there he went on to win his first ever live tournament for a cash just over $600 and was hooked. Aside from small casino tournaments, Berry also develops his poker skills with the occasional online game, wagering only “funny money,” against friends. He simply enjoys the competition.

“You get to playing good enough, and people get to playing good with you. It’s a learning experience. I’ve got friends that say I’m pretty good,” Berry said modestly.

His friends weren’t wrong. This victory proves that everyone, even the smallest stakes players have a shot at the gold ring and Circuit title. Berry, a humble, 71-year-old retiree from Joaquin, Texas drove approximately 410 miles to play in the IP Biloxi Circuit and came away with the ultimate prize.

Along with the gold ring, $8,551 top-prize, and unforgettable story, Berry has earned himself 50 points and the second place spot in the Casino Champion race. However, Berry plans to play in the Seniors Event Sunday morning, which awards no points, and then looks to head back to Texas where he spends his time fishing and relaxing in his retirement.
