Las Vegas – June 5, 2007 – Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) announced today that www.worldseriesofpoker.com, the official web site of the World Series of Poker and the only source on the internet for complete and official WSOP news, is now enhanced with new features for 2007.
For the first time ever, poker fans can see live streaming video coverage – with hole cards – of World Series of Poker bracelet event final tables starting June 6 at www.worldseriesofpoker.com. In addition, expanded live updates from the floor, chip counts, player blogs and other World Series of Poker news will be posted on the site on a real-time basis.
“We’re very excited to be showing final-table action with hole-card coverage for the first time in WSOP history,” said Nick Geber, vice president of broadcast operations for Bluff Media, the official digital publisher and content partner of the WSOP, subject to execution of a definitive agreement. “We believe this unprecedented coverage will expose many more people to the drama and excitement that defines the World Series of Poker.”
“This is a very important test for us,” said Craig Abrahams, director of broadcasting and new media for the World Series of Poker. “We share Bluff’s vision for a live, multimedia future and believe we will learn a lot this summer from these 10 internet broadcasts.”
Staged at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the 2007 World Series of Poker Presented by Milwaukee's Best Light will offer the most diverse event schedule in the tournament’s illustrious 38-year history. Fifty-five bracelet events with buy-ins up to $50,000 will be featured at the 2007 World Series of Poker. Among the additions to the schedule are a $2,500 HORSE event, a $5,000 Mixed Hold'em Event and a $5,000 Heads-up No-Limit Hold'em World Championship.
“We live in a world in which access to timely information is no longer an option, it’s a necessity,” said Jeff Markley, vice president of online operations for Bluff Media. “We’re doing everything we can to accommodate that need. The live video, live updates, chip counts, player blogs and rich media that we’ll be providing from the floor of the World Series of Poker will be unparalleled.”
“The re-launch of the website also includes a fantasy poker game that is the most simple, yet challenging version of the game available online,” Markley said. “Players can compete for the $5,000 first-place prize by naming a competitor from each final table.”
