Las Vegas, Nevada (15 February 2023) - The World Series of Poker returns to one of its marquee properties on Thursday, with the Circuit heading back to Cherokee, North Carolina.
Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Resort has become known for its record-breaking prize pools, and large fields are once again expected during the twelve-day series. The Cherokee stop will run between February 16 - 27, featuring no less than 18 ring events and over $3 Million in guarantees.
The series will start out strong with the $400 No-Limit Hold'em Big 30K Stack, followed by Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em. Event #2 is spread over four starting flights and is boosted with $500,000 in guaranteed prize money. The $500,000 guarantee is expected to get crushed, as the event drew a massive field of 2,643 players last year, generating a total prize pool of $690,185.
As always, the Cherokee schedule features two Seniors events (Feb 19 and Feb 26) and one Ladies Event (Feb 24). Other highlights on the schedule include the $2,200 High Roller (Feb 20), the $400 Monster Stack (Feb 21), and the $1,700 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event.
The $1,700 Main Event will consist of three starting flights, with Flight A starting at 11:00 AM on February 23 and Flight B and C starting at the same time the following days. The three-day event will conclude on the last day of the series, on Monday, February 27. The last Main Event at Harrah's Cherokee drew a field of 1,503 for a total prize pool of 2,275,530. Donovan Dean emerged victorious and will sit as the reigning champion until this year’s Main Event concludes.
The series will also feature a range of side events, including daily turbo tournaments and satellite events where players can win their way into the Main Event for a fraction of the cost. In addition, there will be cash games running throughout the series, offering cash game grinders the chance to test their skills against other poker aficionados.
All official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the invitation-only “Tournament of Champions”. The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2023 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. 2023 Online winners will also be eligible to compete in the signature event.
