Las Vegas, Nevada (August 1, 2023) - The second World Series of Poker Circuit stop of the season will get underway on Thursday, as the Circuit heads to Cherokee for a third time in 2023.
Harrah's Cherokee, in Ashville, North Carolina, has grown to be a Circuit powerhouse with numerous record-breaking prizepools in the past few years. Similar fields are expected this time around, and the property is setting the bar high with over $4 Million in total guarantees across 19 ring events.
The series will run between August 3 - August 14 and will kick off Thursday with the $400 No-Limit Hold'em Big 30K Stack, and Flight A of Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em. Earlier this year, the same $400 No-Limit Hold'em event drew a total of 3,120 entries, generating a massive prizepool of $816,755, which indicates that this year's $500,000 guarantee won't come in to play.
Other highlights on the schedule include the $400 Monster Stack (Aug 8), the $2,200 High Roller (Aug 13) and the marquee event of the series - the $1,700 MAIN EVENT.
The $1,700 Main Event will consist of two starting flights, with Flight A starting at 11:00 AM on Aug 11 and Flight B starting at the same time the following day. The three-day event will conclude on the last day of the series, Monday, August 14. The last Main Event at Harrah's Cherokee drew a whopping 1,205 entries, for a total prize pool of $1,663,301. Ryan Jones took it down that time for a $312,131 pay day and will sit as the reigning champion until this year’s Main Event conclude.

All official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the invitation-only “Tournament of Champions”. The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2024 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. 2024 Online winners will also be eligible to compete in the prestigious event.
