LUCKY 13 FOR LOWERY HIGHLIGHTS EARLY TUNICA RESULTS

Tunica, Mississippi (April 26, 2023) - The WSOP Circuit’s latest trip to Mississippi has seen several prestigious rings already awarded at Horseshoe Tunica, with now 13-time Circuit ring winner Daniel Lowery kicking off the festivities with a victory in Event #1: $400 No-Limit Hold ‘em.

Lowery defeated a field of 216 entries to take home $16,739 and the latest piece of jewelry in his extensive WSOP collection. The Charleston, Arkansas resident now trails only Maurice Hawkins and Joshua Reichard’s 14 rings for the all-time lead. His 134 career WSOP cashes also puts him just one away from entering the top 50 of the WSOP’s all-time list.

Lowery’s ring was the first of seven that have been awarded thus far in Tunica with Brent Roberson of Dunlap, Tennessee collecting the largest cash prize of the early events. Roberson earned $41,584 along with his first WSOP Circuit ring after taking down Event #2, the $400 multi-flight event that saw a field of 718 entries create the largest prize pool so far, $214,319.

Other first-time Circuit winners to start the series include Brandon Tillery, William Latta, Daniel Calway-Fagen, Ricky Roberson, and Zachary Peay. Together they’ve collected nearly $100,000 of the over $600,000 awarded in the first week here in Tunica.

But now it’s time for the Main Event, and it will award at least $600,000 alone.

The four-day event which comes with a pair of opening flights and a $1,700 buy-in starts Friday, where hopefuls will be trying to follow in the footsteps of January’s Tunica Main Event winner Preston McEwen. The five-time WSOP Circuit ring winner defeated a field of 642 entries to take home $183,563 and his second of three rings in just under three months.

McEwen has made a pair of Circuit final tables in the last couple of months since picking up his fifth ring in the $400 Monster Stack event at Harrah’s Cherokee in February, including an 8th place finish this week in Event #6: $400 6-Handed No-Limit Hold ‘em.

He and the other WSOP Circuit glory seekers will begin hitting the felt at 11 a.m. local time Friday for the first of those two opening flights that will have one re-entry available per flight with registration open until the start of level 13.

Play will continue into the money each day, finishing after level 17 or with the final 10% of the field advancing. From there, survivors will advance to Day 2 on Sunday where play will continue on to the final table which will wrap up on Monday.

All official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the invitation-only "Tournament of Champions." The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2023 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. 2023 Online winners will also be eligible to compete in the signature event.
