HORSESHOE COUNCIL BLUFFS CIRCUIT STOP BACK IN FULL FORCE AFTER THREE-YEAR HIATUS

Council Bluffs, IA (Sep 26, 2022) – More than three years have gone by since the World Series of Poker Circuit made an appearance at Horseshoe Council Bluffs in Iowa and it was clear that players couldn’t wait to come back. Entries were up from April 2019 and players traveled from near and far to play in the popular poker room. There were 15 gold rings up for grabs, with many familiar faces making deep runs and winning seats into the Tournament of Champions in July 2023.

The $1,700 Main Event attracted 368 entries across two starting flights and built up a prize pool of $557,520 paying out 55 spots. The Main Event paid out six figures to the winner and many events throughout the series paid out five figures for first place.

It was Wisconsin’s Josh Reichard who took down the Main Event at Council Bluffs, earning $120,445 in prize money, his 13th WSOP Circuit ring and a seat into the Tournament of Champions. This was not Reichard’s biggest career score but it was his first ever Circuit Main Event win out of his 13 victories. This cash also brought Reichard’s overall tournament earnings over $2 million. Reichard went deep with some tough players, including the likes of his heads-up opponent, two-time WSOP Circuit winner John Fagg, WSOP Circuit champions Steve Buell (3rd), Abraham Lopez (5th) and Terry Williams (6th), WSOP bracelet and ring winner Tim Faro (16th), and two-time WSOP Circuit champions Ryan Phan (30th) and Greg Jennings (36th) to name a few.

Even though Reichard has 13 rings, almost 20 live tournament wins and $2 million in live earnings, his next goal is to win a gold WSOP bracelet. The poker pro also doesn’t see himself moving on from the game he loves and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. “I love poker, I love everything about it. I’m not going to move on to anything beyond poker regardless of results, but a bracelet is next on the list of accomplishments for sure,” said Reichard.

The Iowa stop saw a few multi-ring winners in addition to Reichard (13th ring) including Mark Fink (6th ring) and Frankie Zeta (2nd ring). The rest of the winners at this Circuit stop all won their first piece of gold WSOP jewelry and will have a shot at a bracelet in the Tournament of Champions next summer in July in Las Vegas.
