The World Series of Poker Circuit heads back to Harrah's Cherokee on Thursday
Cherokee, NC (2 Aug 2022) - The second stop in the 2022/2023 season of the World Series of Poker Circuit begins on Thursday at Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina. This Circuit stop features 17 gold ring events and $1 million guaranteed in the Main Event. This will be the first of four stops this season at this popular Circuit destination and is sure to attract players from near and far.
The first official event is set to kick off on Thursday, August 4th at 10:00 a.m. with Event #1: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack, a one-day event with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. The first multi-flight event also begins on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. with four starting flights and $500,000 guaranteed in the prize pool in Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em. Additional flights will be on Friday, August 5th at both 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as well as Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. Day 2 will be on Sunday, August 7th at 12:00 p.m. and will play down to a winner.
Other highlights include a High Roller with $100,000 guaranteed, a Ladies Event, the popular Monster Stack with $500,000 guaranteed, and two Seniors Events.
As always, the $1,700 Main Event will feature two starting flights, with players getting a single re-entry on each day. Flight A kicks off on Friday, August 12th at 11:00 a.m. and Flight B is on Saturday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. The Harrah's Cherokee Main Event guarantees $1 million in the prize pool, and if past events are any indication, this number is sure to get blown out of the water. The last time this event was officially held in August at Harrah's Cherokee was three years ago in 2019 due to the pandemic. The defending Main Event champion was Billy Cashwell, taking home $271,234 after topping a field of 1,057 entries and earning the bulk of the $1,601,355 prize pool.
The closing event is on Monday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m. with Event #17: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack. This is a one-day event and guarantees $25,000 in the prize pool.
Any official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the invitation-only “Tournament of Champions”. The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2023 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas.
