The World Series of Poker Circuit heads back to Harrah's Cherokee on Thursday
Cherokee, NC (5 Apr 2022) - For the third time this season, the World Series of Poker Circuit heads back to Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina. This Circuit stop features 16 gold ring events and $1 million guaranteed in the Main Event.
Cards are in the air on Thursday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. with Event #1: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Double Stack, a one-day event with a guaranteed prize pool of $25,000. The first multi-flight event also begins on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. with four starting flights and $500,000 guaranteed in the prize pool in Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em. Additional flights will be on Friday, April 8th at both 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as well as Saturday, April 9th at 10:00 a.m. Day 2 will be on Sunday, April 10th and will play down to a winner.
Other highlights include a Ladies Event, the popular Monster Stack with $500,000 guaranteed, and two Seniors Events.
As always, the $1,700 Main Event will feature two starting flights, with players getting a single re-entry on each day. Flight A kicks off on Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. and Flight B is on April 16th at 11:00 a.m. The Cherokee Main Event guarantees $1 million in the prize pool, and if past events are any indication, this number is sure to get blown out of the water. The last time this event was held at this time of year was in April of 2019, and the defending Main Event champion was four-time WSOP Circuit champion Jonas Wexler. The poker pro from Philadelphia topped a field of 1,087 entries to win $300,536 and his second ring at the time, getting the bulk of over $1.6 million in the prize pool.
The closing event is on Monday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. with Event #16: $2,200 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller. This is a one-day event and guarantees $50,000 in the prize pool.
Any official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the new invitation-only “Tournament of Champions”. The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2022 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. 2022 online and live bracelet winners will also be eligible to compete in the new signature event.
