9 March 2020 (St. Charles, Mo.) - Zachary Mullennix became the latest three-time ring winner on the World Series of Poker Circuit on Monday, when he finished in first place in the Main Event of the Circuit stop at Ameristar St. Charles. He earns $92,886 for his victory, easily the best live tournament cash of his career.
Mullinnex is a relative newcomer to the WSOP Circuit, and he says he’s a relative newcomer to tournaments as well. He has mostly been a cash-game pro, but has been adding more tournaments to his schedule over the past year or so. He’s seen a great deal of success, earning more than $300,000 in tournament cashes since the beginning of 2019. All three of his WSOP Circuit victories have come in that span.
He was also in contention for Casino Champion at the Circuit stop in Coconut Creek, Florida earlier this season, and said after his victory that the close call motivated him to play more Circuits, including this one. His win in the Main Event comes with a free entry into the 2020 WSOP Global Casino Championship, tentatively scheduled for early August.
The tournament attracted 281 entries, generating a prize pool worth $425,715. The top 43 players made the money, including all-time Circuit rings leader Maurice Hawkins (30th place), Heather Alcorn (19th), Ravi Raghavan (11th), and Brett Apter (3rd).
