HARRAH’S NEW ORLEANS WRAPS UP 2018-2019 CIRCUIT SEASON

Chris Lane wins the Main Event for $185,158; Aaron McEvoy is the Casino Champion

The final US Circuit stop of the 2018-2019 World Series of Poker Circuit season is in the books at Harrah’s New Orleans. There were 13 official ring events with 4,607 entries and a total prize pool of $2,342,150 paid out to the winners.

The $1,700 Main Event guaranteed $750,000 and brought in 582 entries for a prize pool of $881,730. The eventual winner was Chris Lane, pocketing $185,158, his first ever Circuit ring and a seat into the 2019 Global Casino Championship. Dustin Stewart was the runner-up for $114,528, denied his second career Circuit ring.

Across the 12 side ring events, half of those champions were multi-ring winners. Most notably, Dan Lowery won his 9th Circuit ring and almost won his 10th after finishing as runner-up to Ryan Phan in Event #9, who won his 2nd career ring. Curtis Terry won his 3rd ring in Event #4, Michael Lech won his 6th ring in Event #5, Carl Masters won his 3rd ring in Event #7 and Aaron McEvoy won his 2nd ring in Event #13.

McEvoy (pictured) came to New Orleans on May 8th to celebrate his birthday and only planned on playing the first couple of events. He won the opening event, and decided to ride the heater and gun for the title of Casino Champion. Dan Lowery was ahead by 7.5 points on the last day, but McEvoy pulled out the win at the last possible moment. McEvoy cashed for $62,946 across five events, with two wins, a 3rd place and a couple of min-cashes. He earned himself a free seat into the 2019 Global Casino Championship in August, and plans to try and win a bracelet this summer in Las Vegas at the World Series of Poker. More information on the points system is available on WSOP.com.
