March 24, 2019 (Tulsa,OK) The field was cut down from 94 to just six on Day 2 of the $1,700 Main Event here at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa. At the end of the day, two former World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event Champions were left standing, Viet Vo, who recently won the Main Event at The Rio in Las Vegas and Maurice Hawkins who is looking to take down his fifth Main Event. Hawkins leads the pack with 4,860,000 chips and could once again tie Valentin Vornicu the record for most WSOPC Rings with 12.
Among the unluckiest players on Day 2 -- those who returned but didn't cash, were Kao Saechao, Mario Mosbock, Ray Henson, Blake Whittington, Walter Rodriguez and the start of the day chip leader, Adam Mirliss, just to name a few. Mirliss quickly lost multiple pots during the day to Jason White and Kou Vang, two players who ended up making it to the final table. In the end, Mirliss got it in against Vang with a straight draw against Vang's pair and Vang held on to send Mirliss home and take the chip lead in the tournament.
The bubble boys of the tournament, in the end, were Teo Rodriguez and Noah Nodine. Nodine's pocket nines were not enough to outrace Robert Ballenger's king-jack. Rodriguez dropped when his own king-jack couldn't outrace Eric Rivkin's pocket sixes. Both players would chop the payout and received $1,920 each.
From there, players continued to drop at a quick pace with the likes of Chris Conrad, Michael Perrone, Pam Belote, Brett Apter, Orlando Romero, and Ed Dixon all making it into the money but not much further than that. Bubbling the official final table was Tim Burden who fell out in tenth place, collecting $16,090 for his run. In the end, Burden rivered a flush and moved all in. He was called by both Phillip Pope who rivered a higher flush and Haitham Foty who turned a set.
The final casualty of the night would be Jason White. White bowed out in seventh place when his ace-king fell to Kou Vang's jack-ten suited. White flopped top pair, but Vang had middle pair and a flush draw when the money got in. The river brought in Vang's flush and sent White home in seventth place, collecting $31,950. That would complete play for the night and would bring the final 6 players into Day 3.
Action is set to resume at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 25 and players will continue play until there is a winner. WSOP.com will be back with updates from the entire final table so make sure to tune in.
