The new year kicks off with another Circuit series at Choctaw Durant.
Durant, OK (January 1, 2019) -- The World Series of Poker Circuit has already completed the first half of the 2018-2019 season. Kicking off the new year will be another Circuit series at Choctaw Durant.
Action begins tomorrow, January 2nd, with the ever-popular Monster Stack. Cards will be in the air at 12:00 pm for Event #1: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack and is scheduled as a two-day competition. Players start with a twice-enlarged starting stack, granting them 30,000 in tournament chips.
The first weekend of the 13-event series is highlighted by two multi-flight tournaments. Event #3 begins Friday, entails two separate starting flights, and has a $400 buy-in. Event #4 begins Sunday, has the same amount of starting flights, but a smaller buy-in of $250.
The only other event featuring multiple starting flights is the $1,700 buy-in Main Event. During the first Choctaw series this season, back in early November, Maxwell Young succeeded in capturing his fifth gold ring and $263,815 after defeating a field of 893 entrants in the Main Event.
The winner of the Main Event and the Casino Champion will earn a seat to the 2019 Global Casino Championship. There they will compete for a minimum $1 million prizepool, as well as a prestigious gold bracelet. To become the Casino Champion a player must earn the most points at a given Circuit stop. Players earn points based on how well they finish in a tournament. More information on the Global Casino Championship leaderboard can be found on WSOP.com.
Below is a list of all official gold ring events that will run during the Choctaw Durant stop.
