Viet Vo leads the final 18 players heading to the final day of the Choctaw main event
January 15, 2018 (Durant, OK) - Day 2 of the $1,650 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event is a wrap and Viet Vo leads the final 18 with 3,265,000.
Vo had built a big stack early today thanks in part to a double knockout where he sent Regina Koenig and Daniel Vo home on the same hand Viet Vo held pocket queens against the pocket nines of Koenig and the ace-ten of Daniel Vo. Earlier, Viet Vo doubled through Koenig in a huge hand which vaulted him into the lead after he came from behind to beat Koenig’s ace-king with ace-jack. Vo has finished second and sixth in WSOP Circuit main events in the past; his sixth place finish was last year where he took home $76,069 and finished sixth behind eventual winner Grant Hinkle. Hinkle fell just short of the money, while his brother Blair managed to book a 49th place finish after falling to Hossein Giuvehchi.
Hossein Giuvehchi (2,565,000), Jeffrey Trudeau (2,510,000), Gil George (2,200,000), and Mark Van Keirbilck (1,800,000) round out the top five stacks heading into the restart Monday at noon.
Trudeau is poised to possibly win his second Casino Champion title of the Circuit season . He is currently sitting in second behind Daniel Jones, who also bagged Day 3 and will start with 435,000.
George was the Day 1A chip leader and he managed to hold parlay that into a top five stack heading into the final day. Also coming into the final day, Jared Hemingway who bagged the overall chip lead for Day 2, bagged 1,535,000 heading into Day 3.
Circuit mainstay, Allen Kessler found a cash with his 28th place finish. He was eliminated by Krzysztof Stybaniewicz when the two got all in preflop and Stybaniewicz held the better ace. Stybaniewicz finished Day 2 with 745,000.
Each of the remaining players is guaranteed $17,780 with first place being worth $332,539.
The restart is Monday and noon local time and the tournament will play to a winner and crown the newest WSOP Circuit Main Event Champion.
