With both starting flights of the World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana main event wrapped up, the field heads to Day 2 with Keven Stammen holding the chip lead.
Stammen bagged up the Day 1A chip lead at the end of the first starting flight on Friday evening and nobody could surpass on him by the end of Day 1B. The Ohio native and Bracelet winner finished Day 1A with 215,500 and is the only player heading into Day 2 to cross the 200,000 chip mark.
Joining Stammen at the top of the chip counts are Juan Mora (179,000) and Robert Geith (173,600). Gary Simms (158,500) and Neil Scott (150,900) round out the top five spots. The top three stacks all survived Day 1A, while Simms and Scott were the top two stacks from Day 1B. Other notables to survive to Day 2 include Jake Bazeley (143,100), Joey Wideman (110,200), Scott Stewart (114,800), Ben Beighle (102,200), T.M. Williams (79,700), bracelet winner Alan Percal (78,200), Jerry Payne (73,900), Charles “Woody” Moore (73,000), defending champion Russ Head (65,000), Chad Eveslage (56,900), Hank Sitton (54,900), eight-time ring winner Ari Engel (48,500), and Doug Carli (27,400)
Day 1A drew 180 entrants and there were 246 entrants on Saturday for Day 1B. It brings the total field size thus far to 426 and a prizepool of $639,000. Neither of those numbers are finalized, however, because late registration and re-entry is still open until cards get in the air on Sunday for the start of Day 2.
Of the 180 from Day 1A, 51 survived the flight and of the 246 that played Day 1B, 79 players made it through the 12 levels of action. 130 players are guaranteed to come back for Day 2, but like the prizepool and field size, that number could change depending on Day 2 registration.
In order to be eligible to register for the start of Day 2, players must not have fired both of their available bullets on Day 1B, regardless of what they did on Day 1A, giving players a maximum of four shots at a Circuit main event ring and seat into the Global Casino Championship.
Plenty of top notch poker talent made their way to Southern Indiana that unfortunately couldn’t find a bag at the end of a starting flight. Jessica Dawley, Former November Niner Dennis Phillips, Chris Conrad, and Mark Smith were among the notable players who failed to survive a starting flight. All of them are still eligible to re-enter before play starts on Sunday.
Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The first three levels are still 40 minutes long before switching to 60-minute levels for the rest of the day.
