PBKC MAIN EVENT DAY 1 RECAP

TJ Shulman (pictured) leads 49 remaining players in the Main Event.

West Palm Beach, FLA. (November 19, 2016) -- Only 49 remain in the Circuit Main Event at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Flight B drew 142 players, bringing the total entries for the event to 261. The total prizepool is $391,500 and 27 places will be paid. The minimum payout will be $3,163 and the winner of the event will be awarded $95,921 in addition to a gold ring and an entry into the 2017 Global Casino Championship.

TJ Shulman ended Day 1B as the chip leader with 402,000, which makes him overall chip leader going into Day 2. Flight A chip leader Jake Dollinger is not far behind with 349,000. These are the only two players to bag over 300,000 on Day 1. Shulman had a roller coaster of a day and climbed into the chip lead toward the end of level 13 when he won a coin flip with pocket sevens to eliminate Gary Bodley. He had 180,000 after that hand and more than doubled that stack in the last two levels to secure his end-of-Day 1 chip lead. Shulman won his first ring earlier this week in Event #8: $580 Double Stack No Limit Hold'em, and has a shot at another in this Main Event. Dollinger is still looking for his first ring.

Other familiar players to bag in Flight B include ring winner and 2015 Main Event runner-up, Joshua Beckley (176,000), and EPT and WPT title winner Harrison Gimbel (37,000). Event #2 winner Carlos Loving bagged 70,500 and Brian Reinert, who has two Circuit rings from PBKC, finished Day 1 with 127,500. Of the many unfortunate players to bust before the end of the day were November Niner Jerry Wong, Jake Schwartz, Ian O'Hara, and Bernard Lee.

Two of the 49 players still in contention have a chance to be two-time Circuit Main Event winners. These include, two-time gold ring winner Russ Head (113,500), and Peter Vitantonio, who won this event last year and enters Day 2 with a stack of 59,000. Maurice Hawkins (156,000) can become a three-time Circuit Main Event winner with a victory in this event.

The Day 2 restart will be at noon on Sunday. They will play ten one-hour levels with breaks every two hours.

The top 5 chip stacks to start Day 2 are as follows:

1st: TJ Shulman - 402,000
2nd: Jake Dollinger - 349,000
3rd: Alex Nguyen - 225,000
4th: Filipp Khavin - 199,000
