CIRCUIT RETURNS TO HORSESHOE CASINO IN HAMMOND, IN

Series kicks off Thursday, season's first $5,300 high roller ring event begins October 25.

Hammond, Ind. (October 13, 2015)
— The World Series of Poker Circuit returns to the Chicago area this Thursday as the tour sets up shop at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. A total of 12 events take place through October 26 when the series concludes with the $1,675 Main Event. For the first time in the property’s eight-year WSOP history, the Circuit’s patented re-entry event features unlimited re-entry. Kicking off the series, the tournament boasts a $365 buy-in, three starting flights, nine Main Event seats added and is expected to challenge the 3,001 entries the property’s 2011/2012 re-entry event drew.

Other tournaments on the schedule include a $365 Monster Stack, a $580 six-max, a $1,125 no-limit hold’em and, for the first time this season, a $5,300 high roller. The high roller, which begins Sunday, October 25, was added to the Circuit repertoire this year and given Hammond’s knack of doing things big, it’s expected to be a staple on the series’ schedule going forward.

The Horseshoe’s aforementioned 2011/2012 re-entry event solidified the property as one of the premier Circuit destinations. It nearly doubled the previous attendance record at the time and retained its top spot in the record books until Choctaw’s re-entry event bested it just last year. The tournament’s $873,291 prize pool doled out a payday to the top 297 finishers. Heading home with the lion’s share was Wisconsin’s Aaron Bieck. A recent graduate, Bieck not only went home with his first Circuit gold ring, but pocketed a payday of $124,438.

A few short years later, the Horseshoe was back it shattering even more records when the 2013/2014 Main Event drew an unheard of 1,717 entries. The massive field generated a prize pool of $2,575,500 and saw James Dorrance transform his $1,675 buy in into nearly $420,000.

Players traveling to this year’s event by air are encouraged to fly into Chicago’s Midway International Airport. Promotional hotel rates are available at the Residence Inn Chicago/Southeast Hammond, the Courtyard Chicago/Southeast Hammond, the Residence Inn and Suites Chicago Southeast/Hammond and other properties.
