DAY 1 RECAP - HORSESHOE S. INDIANA MAIN EVENT

Two starting flights of the World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana Main Event are complete and Rob Skorka leads the field as they head to Day 2.

The two starting days saw 368 players put up the $1,675 to have their shot at a WSOP Circuit Main Event title and an automatic seat into the WSOP National Championship. 151 players came out on Friday afternoon for Day 1A and Saturday afternoon saw another 217 players show up for Day 1B.

Late registration is still open until cards get in the air on Sunday for Day 2, so there is still some time for players to register and increase the prizepool even further.

Of the 368 that showed up, the field has been trimmed down to just 110 with Skorka leading the way in chips with 231,800. John Nelson came out on top of the Day 1B field after finishing 12 levels with 228,600 in chips, which puts him just behind Skorka in second place.

David Knuckles played Day 1A and is the only other player above the 200,000 chip mark, with 208,100. William Watson and Russ Head both played 1B and round out the top 5 chip counts with 172,700 and 146,300, respectively.

Other notable pros that were able to put chips in a bag and come back for Day 2 are Ryan Tepen (66,600), Jacob Bazeley (73,200), Aaron Steury (23,100), Mark “Pegasus” Smith (35,300), Dean Schultz (72,100), Chad Eveslage (86,900), and Jerry Payne (51,700).

Keven Stammen, Alan Percal, Zal Irani, Chalres “Woody” Moore, Nick Jivkov, Josh Williams and Erik Gorman were just a few of the notables who were unable to survive either of the flights.

Day 2 is set to begin at 1 pm on Sunday. When play begins, the first three levels will be 40 minutes long before the levels are increased to 60 minutes in length. After the cards get in the air, registration will be closed and prizepool can be calculated.

There is already a slight increase in attendance from last year’s event, which saw Greg Johnson top a field of 360 players to take home a ring and $124,000.

There is a complete list of seating assignments listed under the “reports” tab and WSOP.com will have complete coverage of the Day 2 action.
