12 gold ring events run October 2-13; two National Championship berths up for grabs.
Elizabeth, Ind. (September 29, 2014) — The Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, Ind. hosts the World Series of Poker Circuit beginning this Thursday, October 2 and running through Monday, October 13. In that time, 12 gold ring events including the $1,675 Main Event take place with two berths to the season-ending National Championship being awarded.
Opening weekend of the 12-day series kicks off with a $365 buy-in re-entry event. The tournament features two starting flights beginning Friday and Saturday at 12 p.m. and permits unlimited re-entry through the dinner break. Previous similarly structured events at the Horseshoe drew upwards of 700 entries and saw the winner transform their $300 buy-in into more than $40,000.
The series headliner is $1,675 Main Event which begins Friday, October 10. Like the re-entry opener, the finale features two starting flights beginning on consecutive days at 12 p.m. Players are allowed a total of two entries into the event that can be used in any combination of Flights A and B — that is, A-A, B-B, or A-B.

Past Main Event champions of the property include Charles “Woody” Moore, Robert Castoire and gold bracelet winner Dan Heimiller. Last year’s winner, Zal Irani, outlasted a field of 301 entries to pocket $106,103 and his first gold ring. In addition to an expected six-figure first prize and the Circuit ring, this year’s champion earns a berth in the WSOP National Championship. There, they’ll compete alongside the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino Champion as they play for their share of an up-to $2 million prize pool and a gold bracelet.Horseshoe Casino is located just over the Ohio River from Louisville, Ky. Players flying to the event should book their arrival into Louisville International Airport located about 20 miles from the property. A staple on the WSOP Circuits schedule since the 2005/2006 season, this marks the WSOP’s 10th time returning to the property.
