MIKE DENTALE LEADS THE PACK HEADING TO DAY 2

The World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City continued Saturday with the second of two starting flights in the $1,675 finale. In total, the Main Event drew 460 entries to create a prize pool of $690,000. After 15 levels and two days of play just 86 players remain with Michael Dentale out in front of a tough field that includes Mukul Pahuja (218,000), Ryan Eriquezzo (204,000), Brian Lemke (140,500), Ralph Massey (50,500) and Paul Sokoloff (32,500)

Dentale sits with 320,000 chips and is the only player eclipse the 300k mark. Following close behind is Gajan Jeganathan (pictured), who is second in chips with 278,000. Jeganathan was the top finisher in Flight B. Those trailing a little farther behind include Roman Valerstein (232,000), Greg Kolo (153,500) Tim West (102,000) Jake Schwartz (100,000) and Jonathan Abla (84,000).

Along with the top cash prize, the winner will receive a WSOP Circuit gold ring and an automatic bid to this year’s National Championship. A complete payout structure will be made available early into Day 2.

Action kicked off with the opening flight of the Main Event Friday at noon. The first flight drew 172 entries and had 33 players survive the day to bag. The second flight began Saturday at noon and drew 288 players. There were 53 players that survived the second flight. That brings the total number of players heading to Day 2 to 86.

Those not fortunate enough to make it to Day 2 include Maurice Hawkins, Matt Stout, Steve Gross, Thomas Midena, Daniel Buzgon, Andy Frankenberger and previous Atlantic City Circuit Main Event winner, Joseph McKeehen. Matt Glantz busted on one of the last hands of the night to cap off the Day 1 eliminations.

Julie Cornelius (82,000) busted on her first bullet on Day 1A, but had better luck with their second on Day 1B. She will be advancing to play on Day 2 and compete for the first place title.

Action resumes for Day 2 Sunday at 12 p.m. ET with blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a 500 ante. Players are set to play 10, 60-minute levels before bagging shortly before midnight local time. Players fortunate to survive Sunday’s Day 2 will return Monday at noon for the final day of play.
