HARRAH
CHESTER, PA (April 9, 12014) -- Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack may be known for the best harness racing action on the East Coast, but starting next week, the horses will take a back seat to the World Series of Poker Circuit.  The nation's top grinders will converge on Harrah’s Philadelphia, which is located just 12 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, as they take the WSOP National Championship points race down the final stretch.  This is the 20th of 22 stops on the 2013/2014 Season 10 schedule and the battle for points is heating up as players try to claw their way into the top 50 slots.

This is the fourth year that Harrah’s Philadelphia will host a WSOP Circuit series, taking place April 16-28.  Twelve ring events are spread out over thirteen days with $300,000 in guaranteed prize money.  Players will look to earn points toward a seat to the WSOP National Championship by making the money in those 12 official Ring Events.  The top 50 point earners will join 44 Main Event and Casino Champion winners from each of this season’s Circuit stops at the National Championship to be held at Bally's Atlantic City May 22-24. Up for grabs there are a WSOP Bracelet and a share of the $1 million prize pool.

The $1,675 Buy-in WSOP Circuit Main Event has two starting flights that begin at 11am on Friday April 25th and Saturday April 26th.  The Main Event has a $200,000 Guaranteed prize pool and the winner gets an automatic seat in the National Championship.  Last year’s Main Event drew its largest field ever with 351 players, generating a total prize pool of $526,500.  Rex Clinkscales emerged the victor, taking home $121,095 and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring.

The player who earns the most points over the 13-day series at Harrah's Philadelphia will be named Casino Champion and will also earn a seat in the National Championship.  Last year's Casino Champion was Chris Reslock.  The poker pro from Atlantic City won two ring events here in 2013 and until recently shared the record for most Circuit rings (7) with Alex Masek.  Masek won his 8th ring in March in St. Louis, relegating Reslock to 2nd place on the all-time list.

The first Ring Event of this year’s series is a $365 No-Limit Hold’em Event, beginning at 11am Wednesday, April 16th.  Event 2 is the $365 NLH Re-entry event with two starting flights at 11am on Thursday and Friday -- it has a $75,000 Guarantee on the prize pool.  Event 3 is a one-day Turbo NLH event starting at noon Saturday with a $365 Buy-in and $25,000 Guarantee on the prize pool.

Other ring events scheduled for this year’s Circuit Series include a $365 buy-in H.O.S.E. Event on Tuesday, April 22nd; and Pot Limit Omaha on Wednesday, April 23rd.  In addition to the ring events, there are also a full slate of non-ring tournaments and satellites on tap during the series.
