WSOP CIRCUIT RETURNS TO HARRAH
After a successful first outing during the 2012/2013 season, the World Series of Poker Circuit proudly returns to the beautiful Harrah’s Cherokee in Cherokee, North Carolina.

The series runs April 3-14 and, as always, promises 12 Circuit ring events in 12 days. Professional players and amateurs alike will join one another on the felt to battle for these coveted symbols of poker success. The series looks to best the impressive field sizes that were reached last year, meaning larger cash prizes for the tournament participants.

Last season, several notable names were able to claw to the top of the large fields to claim the prestigious Circuit rings. Nicolas Vaca-Rondon won the inaugural event of the series, a $365 No-Limit Hold’em event where he captured his first Circuit ring. Vaca-Rondon of course went onto parlay his Circuit successes into a seventh place finish in the National Championship. John Horsley took down the $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry event and pocketed over $70,000 in first-place winnings. Horsley bested a field of 1,315 entries, which allowed him to boast that he’d won the largest tournament ever hosted in North Carolina. This is, of course, a title that is likely to be broken this season.

Last year’s $1,675 Main Event saw a total of 856 entries, which garnered a total prize pool of $1,284,000. John Bowman laid claim to the title in the Main Event, where he bested Daniel Weinman heads up to win over $250,000 as well as a seat to the National Championship.

This year, the series once again kicks off with a $365 No-Limit Hold’em event. The event that looks to draw a record-breaking field, however, is Event 4: $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry. This event kicks off on Saturday, April 5th with two starting flights at 12pm and 5pm. Players who bust from Flight A are able to re-enter into Flight B. Those to advance from the two starting flights will combine on Sunday where the tournament will play until a winner is crowned.

Other notable events on the schedule include a $365 Pot-Limit Omaha beginning Friday, April 4th, a $250 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em event open to players 50 years of age or older on the 6th, and a $250 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em event on the 13th. It should be noted that both the seniors and ladies events are non-ring events.

The $1,675 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event begins on Friday, April 11th and features two starting flights on two separate days. This is a re-entry event where players are allowed a maximum of two bullets. Players have the option of entering in on the 11th, 12th, or before the start of play on Day 2 on the 13th.

Satellite tournaments will be running all week to provide more cost effective ways of entry into the Main Event. A full look at the schedule for the series can be found on WSOP.com.
