The end of November is a time when people start thinking about feasting on turkey, battling for Black Friday bargains, and kicking the holidays off with a bang. This Thanksgiving though, New Jersey poker fans will be feasting on chips, battling for blinds, and kicking off a bright new future for the game in the Garden State.
On Thursday November 21st, online poker came to New Jersey along with online casino games, as players got their first glimpse at online poker from WSOP.com and online casino offerings from HarrahsCasino.com and CaesarsCasino.com.
This is just the start of the poker action the next couple of weeks has to offer though. Not only is online poker up and running, the WSOP is headed to town for the next Circuit stop of the 2013-2014 season. The Circuit arrives at Harrah’s Atlantic City on Black Friday, November 29th, and continues through Monday, December 9th.
One of the original stops on the WSOP Circuit, Atlantic City has always been a hotbed for poker with top East Coast talent. Over the ten years of trips to this town, players like Chris Klodnicki, Dwyte Pilgrim, all-time Circuit ring leader Chris Reslock, “Miami” John Cernuto, Will Failla, Mark “Pegasus” Smith, and countless other notable names have found success while battling for rings.
Last year, Adam Teasdale defeated a field of 616 entries to earn the title of Harrah’s Atlantic City Main Event Champion, the ring, a $194,040 payday, and a seat into the 2013 WSOP National Championship. Joining him on the trip was Brandon Fish, who earned Casino Champion honors after winning one of the largest non-Main Event rings of the season in the opening weekend $365 re-entry event and taking 14th in the Main Event.
This season’s schedule features another big $365 re-entry event on Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st. Other highlights on the schedule include non-ring Seniors and Ladies events, an $1,100 satellite to the 2014 WSOP Main Event in Vegas and, of course the $1,675 single re-entry Main Event.
This year’s Main Event features two starting flights on Saturday December 7th. Flight A action gets underway at 11am, while Flight B gets going at 5pm. If players bust during Flight A, they are able to re-enter during Flight B.
If the Circuit action wasn’t pull enough, those who make the trip to Harrah’s will get an up close and personal look at WSOP.com offerings, as reps from the site will be on hand for all the action and giving away some seats into the Circuit ring events.
