Day 1A of the Main Event is complete. A total of 138 players entered
the event today, and after 15 levels of play, only 31 survived. The chip
leader at the end of the night is Joey Weissman, who bagged 267,000 in
chips.
There are two WSOP bracelet winners from today’s field who will advance to
Day 2: Weissman and Trevor Pope, who is third with 140,000. Two other
bracelet winners, Howard “Tahoe” Andrew and Dana Castaneda, entered the
tournament today, but were eliminated.
Carolyn Bermudez, who finished in 8th place in a preliminary event here at Harveys, finished the night 2nd in chips with 227,500.
Other notable players who did not survive include WSOP Circuit ring holders
Michael Rosenbach, Bob 'Uncle Krunk' Panitch, Wendy Freedman, Jed
Hoffman (winner of event 4), Austin Apicella (winner of event 6); and
Casino Champion Leaderboard points leader Shawn Daniels.
The
$1,675 No Limit Hold'em Main Event Championship, Flight A started off at noon. Players
started with 20,000 chips and they played fifteen 40-minute levels
before bagging chips for the night. Registration was open until the
start of level 13.
Flight B runs
on Saturday and they will play the same 15 levels. Players who were
eliminated from flight A may re-enter flight B. Survivors of flights 1A
and 1B will combine for day two on Sunday, November 3rd at 12 noon PDT.
