Jarred Graham won Event 31, a $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low tournament, Wednesday night earning his first gold bracelet and $255,942.
Graham, a cash game specialist from Australia, found himself under the bright lights of a World Series of Poker final table being railed by none other than the 2005 Main Event Champion Joe Hachem. Hachem and Graham formed a friendship while playing cash games in their home country a few years back and it's blossomed in the time since. At just 24 years old, Graham is following in the footsteps of Hachem and helping to further cement Australia's place on the poker map.
Not only did Graham perform under the watchful eye of Hachem, he outperformed a final table with poker resumes as stout as Hachem's. The final table
included three gold bracelet winners, most notably Perry Green and Barry
Greenstein. Green and Greenstein are both three-time champions. Green's
wins came in 1976, 1977 and 1979. Miraculously, his first eight
WSOP cashes came in the form of final table appearances, three of them
victories and two of them runner-up finishes. Green finished ninth in this event, while Greenstein took third.
Gold bracelet winner Eric Rodawig finished seventh.
The $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low tournament drew 936 players generating a prize pool of $1,263,600. The top 117 players finished in the money with a min-cash paying $2,400.
Notables to cash include Justin Gardenhire (90th), Jason Mercier (83rd), Ryan Lenaghan (59th), Nick Binger (58th), Mitch Schock (48th), Allen Cunningham (44th), David Sands (41st), Mel Judah (27th) and Jeff Lisandro (24th).
Loni Harwood (6th) was the fourth woman to make a final table appearance this summer, while Marco Johnson (2nd) joined the long list of players who have final tabled multiple events this summer. Johnson previously finished eighth in the $2,500 Eight-Game event. With this second place showing, he is now the 14th player to make multiple final tables here at the Rio in 2013.
