CASINO CHAMPION PROFILE: ANDREW ROBINSON
Durant, Okla. (January 24, 2013) — Andrew Robinson recorded three cashes, including two final tables, to earn 75 points and edge out Austin Apicella for Casino Champion honors at Choctaw Resort earlier this week.

Robinson began the series with a 13th place finish in Event 5 and didn't waste any time making another deep run. Immediately following his elimination, he registered for that day's 5 p.m. event, a $365 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, where he would make an even deeper run, finishing second to Michael "Car Wash" Schneider.

Despite the tournament's 5 a.m. finish, Robinson was back on the felt that afternoon betting and raising his was through the 12 p.m. $365 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo field. He finished shy of the winner's circle but made his second final table, placing fourth and bringing his Casino Championship points total to 75.

Robinson's three cashes came in the span of three days, but that's not to say the accolades were without a sweat. He bested Apicella by only 2.5 points and it took all 12 days to officially anoint him champion. Robinson made Day 2 of the 12th and final ring event and had his sights on a Casino Championship stranglehold. Unfortunately the 32-year-old pro busted well short of the money and had a waiting game on his hands.

Not only did Drazen Ilich have a chance to surpass him in the Main Event, Jonathan Hilton made the Event 12 final table and could overtake him with a win.

Ilich gave Robinson his best sweat, finishing sixth, just two spots shy of the fourth place finish necessary to nab the honors. Hilton was the next to go, finishing seventh, well short of the first place he needed. It wasn't until Hilton's elimination that Robinson officially earned his spot on the Casino Championship throne.

The Casino Championship race at Choctaw Resort was one of the most competitive the 2012-2013 WSOP Circuit has seen. All but five of the champions recorded follow-up cashes, four players earned more than 70 points and six finished within 10 points of Robinson.

Robinson joins the Choctaw Resort Main Event Champion, Jeff Fielder, in New Orleans this May for the WSOP National Championship Presented by Southern Comfort 100 Proof. The pair will compete in front of the world on ESPN for a share of a potentially $2 million prize pool and a gold bracelet.

Robinson is a former realtor turned poker professional. He was born in Indiana and now resides in Hutto, Tex. with his wife and two children.
