AND ON THE SECOND DAY
Cannes, France (October 1, 2012) -- The 2012 WSOP Europe Main Event Championship continued today at the luxurious Majestic Barriere, in Cannes, France.

In just a few days, the €10,450 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament has already produced several notable headlines. The prestigious competition is sure to be the focus of the poker world the rest of the week -- at least until the newest gold bracelet champion is ultimately crowned on Thursday.

Moreover, the 2012 WSOP Player of the Year race will come close to being decided after this week’s events (and pending the outcome of the World Championship final table, coming at the end of October). Several contenders for this prize are also still alive in the WSOP Europe finale.

The tournament closed registration with 420 entries, which is slightly ahead of the overall six-year average for WSOP Europe Main Events. The top 48 finishers will collect prize money, with the winner scheduled to receive €1,002,366.
