6th ANNUAL WSOP EUROPE OFFERS SEVEN GOLD BRACELETS
WSOPE Set for September 21 to October 4, 2012 in Cannes, France
LAS VEGAS/CANNES, France – March 8, 2012 – Fresh off being named the “The Best Event of the Year” by the European Poker Awards, the World Series of Poker Europe Presented by BarrierePoker.fr has solidified its tournament schedule for the 6th Annual World Series of Poker Europe in Cannes, France.
The 6th Annual WSOPE will be held from September 21 through October 4, 2012 in beautiful Cannes, France.
Players will be welcomed back into the luxurious settings of the Casino Barrière de Cannes Croisette and the Hôtel Majestic Barrière in the scenic French city of Cannes for a two-week slate of events certain to surpass last year’s record-breaking success.
The 2012 WSOPE will feature seven bracelet tournaments this year – the same amount offered in 2011.
“We can’t wait to return to the Cote D’Azur in 2012,” said WSOP vice president Ty Stewart. “We have moved up the schedule a couple of weeks to take better advantage of the great weather and all Cannes has to offer. Ask anyone who attended last year. This tournament is now a certified major championship and the experience is second to none. The media is already speculating on 1,000 players for the Main Event and we will be ready for them.”
The entire WSOP gold bracelet schedule is identical to last year and more than four dozen side events will also be included during the two-week poker series. A Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em event will kick off the tournament on Friday, September 21 and feature a €2,500 + €200 buy-in and a 3-day structure.
“We are pleased to welcome back this event to the Cannes Barrière resort,” said Alain Fabre, CEO of Barrière Croisette Casino. “The first edition of the WSOPE in Cannes was a great success, an-award winning event that we took great pride in. We look forward to hosting the players again and will strive to make this "festival of poker" even more fabulous.“
Other events include No Limit Hold’em, No Limit Hold’em Shootout, Pot Limit Omaha, a Six-Handed Pot Limit Omaha, the Mixed-Max No-Limit event and a €10,000 + €450 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Main Event. (Note: French law only allows Hold’em and Omaha games).
Players will receive special room rates for their stay in Cannes. There are two different hotels we have arranged special rates, the Majestic and the Gray d’Albion. Room reservation details will be available by May 1, 2012.
These seven tournaments will be sanctioned gold bracelet events. Non-stop cash games and other events will also be scheduled during the tournament, as well as a bevy of satellite tournaments.
The 2012 World Series of Poker Europe will be televised broadly around the world. In 2011, WSOPE programs were broadcast on Direct8, RTL9 and Lucky Jack in France, and ESPN networks around the world. WSOPE remains the only European poker tournament to be televised in the United States.
