Atlantic City, NJ (December 9, 2012) — Day 1 of the $1,675 buy-in Harrah's Resort Main Event concluded early Sunday morning following two start flights and nine grueling levels of play. TJ Crews leads the field going into Day 2. He holds 141,900 chips, slightly ahead of Brian Nguyen in second.Cards were in the air at 11 a.m. for Day 1A. In all, 362 players, 39 percent more than last year, took a seat in the opening flight. Play concluded at about 5:30 p.m. and just 192 remained. Some of the players lucky enough to move on from Day 1A include Brandon Fish (91,800), Mark Rose (52,200), Vinny Pahuja (52,100), Jamie Kerstetter (45,000), Abe Araya (39,000), Jakob Coker (35,800), Kevin McColgan (33,000), Yury Parad (29,700) and Brett Schwertley (25,800).Day 1B began at 7 p.m. and matched the nine levels of Day 1A. Official numbers will not be available for this flight until registration closes at 12 p.m. Sunday. Final prizepool numbers will be available at that time as well. Notables to advance from Day 1B include Tim Faro (101,200), Chris Klodnicki (92,900), Chris Reslock (83,100), Joshua Pender (49,674), Aaron Massey (33,900), Craig Bergeron (28,700), Mukul Pahuja (28,100), Dean Schultz (25,600) and Jeff Fielder (17,800).Day 2 starts at 12 p.m. Sunday with blinds of 400/800 and a 100 ante. Some players, like Amanda Musumeci (8,100) grinded a short stack into Day 2, while others took a less traditional route.Will Failla and three-time Circuit champion Dwyte Pilgrim came almost as quickly as they went. The pair waltzed to registration at the beginning of level 9, the last level of Day 1A, and promptly ponied up the $1,675 entry fee.Blink and you would have missed their eliminations. It bordered on unbelievable. "Will and Dwyte, please clear the rail," poker room manager John Arthur joked over the microphone. But they got the last laugh. Failla bagged 63,500 in Day 1B while Dwyte advanced to Day 2 with 26,600.Day 2 is scheduled to play until 2 a.m. or until an official final table is reached.
