Samuel Oberlin, a 22-year-old student from Grand Rapids, Michigan, will be the chip leader when the final table of the WSOP Circuit event at Horseshoe Southern Indiana gets underway tomorrow at 2 p.m.
It took less than five hours for the 27 players returning on day two to get down to nine after Oberlin left Bob Cole on the bubble by beating his Ac-5c with A-K. The finalists include several pros, and perhaps the best-known player is Circuit regular Dean Schultz, who has racked up some 600,000 in tournament cashes, half of it coming from winning a Borgota/WPT $2,500 event.
This event had been notable because of the presence of a husband and wife, David and Stacy Kopacz. Stacy, however, went out midway through day two after losing most of her chips when she held pocket kings and lost to an A-K when an ace hit the river.
