Entering the final table 8th in chips is Jerry Wong. Wong is a 34-year-old professional poker player, originally from Brooklyn, New York, that now lives in south Florida. Wong had $118,156 in WSOP tournament earnings prior to this year’s Main Event. His largest single WSOP cash was in the 2012 Main Event when he finished 309th for $32,871. Away from the WSOP Wong has two six-figure scores. In 2008 Wong won a $1k tournament at Foxwood’s Resort Casino for $113,010 and in 2013 he finished 3rd out of 987 entries in the $10k PCA Main Event for $725,000.

Road to the Final Table:

Wong bagged less than he started with on Day 1, but rebounded quickly to bag an above average stack at the end of Day 2. Wong continued to add chips to his stack on Days 3 and 4 and bagged above the tournament average on both days. On Day 5 Wong made his move to the chip leader. He more than doubled his chip stack by the last level of Day 5. Then with about 30 minutes left in Day 5 he took control of the chip lead by eliminating Bryan Piccioli in 84th place. Wong finished Day 5 as the chip leader with 11,555,000 chips.

Wong added a few chips to his stack over the course of Day 6, partially due to a big river bluff against Griffin Benger. It was not enough for Wong to hold onto his chip lead. He finished the day 13th in chips out of 27 remaining players with a stack of 12,975,000 chips.

On Day 7 Wong ran his stack north of 20 million chips, but had a tough time closing out the day. He doubled up Gordon Vayo to drop to around 16 million. Then he got it back, plus some from picking off a Fernando Pons bluff, but then lost to Vayo again to take another big hit to his chip stack. Wong finished the day 8th out of nine remaining players with a chip stack of 10,175,000.

Final Table Position:

Wong’s 10,175,000 chip stack is worth 22 big blinds. On Wong’s right will be Belgium’s Kenny Hallaert who sits 4th in chips with 43,325,000 (86bbs). On his left will be Griffin Benger with 26,175,000 (52 bbs) chips. Benger enters the final table 7th in chips.
